How to Choose the Right Location for a Gas Meter Installation

Installing a gas meter is a crucial step in home gasification. Choosing the correct location ensures accurate gas measurement, safety, and easy maintenance. Let’s review the key requirements and recommendations.

1. Suitable Installation Areas

Gas meters should be installed in non-residential areas with natural ventilation, such as:

  • Kitchen

  • Boiler room (heat generator room)

  • Veranda

2. Meter Installation Can Be Done In:

  • A gasified room

  • A non-residential area of a gasified house with natural ventilation

  • Outside the house

3. Recommended Installation Height

The meter should be installed at least 1.6 meters above the floor for easy access and maintenance.

4. Minimum Distance from Other Objects

  • From doors and windows: at least 0.5 m

  • From gas appliances (stoves, boilers): at least 0.8 m

5. Positioning Relative to Heat and Moisture Sources

The meter must be placed away from heat and moisture sources to prevent damage and inaccurate readings.

6. Installing the Meter Inside Furniture

It is allowed to install the meter inside a cabinet if:

  • It does not touch the cabinet walls

  • There is enough ventilation space

  • The meter remains accessible for readings

7. Installing the Meter Outside the House

Meters can be installed outdoors in cabinets, under canopies, or in other protective enclosures.

8. Accessibility for Maintenance

The installation location should allow easy access for maintenance and inspection.

Important!

Gas meters must be installed by qualified specialists with the necessary permits. Consult your local gas distribution company before installation.
