Safety Guidelines for Working with Gas Equipment

Natural gas without impurities is virtually harmless. Its main component, methane, is not toxic. However, gas leaks are highly flammable and explosive. The explosive concentration of natural gas ranges from 5% to 15% of the room’s volume. If the concentration of gas in the air is below 5% or above 15%, it results in combustion. Therefore, it is essential to strictly adhere to safety rules.

The installation, maintenance, and repair of gas equipment must only be carried out by qualified specialists with the appropriate licenses. These can be either organizations or independent professionals who have completed specialized training and obtained the necessary permits. Gas equipment is classified as hazardous, which is why its maintenance must be performed regularly. Maintenance involves not only checking the gas appliance itself but also inspecting gas pipelines both inside the property and beyond.

Special attention is paid to gas-powered equipment because its quality and reliability directly affect the safety of residents, their health, and the preservation of property. During maintenance, gas equipment and its automation must undergo thorough diagnostics using the appropriate tools. If necessary, parts for replacement must be selected based on the brand, model, and specifications of the gas equipment. According to current safety regulations, scheduled maintenance is required for:

  • Gas boilers: at least once a year, typically before the heating season begins.
  • Gas stoves: at least once every three years.
  • Gas water heaters: at least once a year.

The purpose of maintenance is to thoroughly inspect the condition of both indoor and external gas networks, as well as the equipment connected to them. Gas systems under maintenance also include gas consumption meters.

REMEMBER! IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO:

  • Perform unauthorized gasification of apartments or houses.
  • Use gas when appliances are faulty.
  • Disconnect old gas appliances and connect new ones on your own.
  • Independently repair safety and control automation systems.
  • Carry out unauthorized repairs of gas equipment and pipelines.
  • Undertake unauthorized renovations in rooms where gas appliances are installed.

Do not attempt to install, maintain, or repair gas equipment on your own. Do not risk your safety!

Gas equipment requires regular and professional maintenance, as improper handling can lead to serious consequences, including health hazards, property damage, and fire risks. Always consult licensed professionals for all gas-related tasks. Your safety and the safety of your household depend on it!
